Meet the Farmer! TRISH DENNIS
has owned and operated the farm established in 2015. Trish was an USAF Captain and a corporate attorney before turning to farming. The brainchild of her husband, Greg Dennis, and funded by an investor, Midwest Commercial Construction, the farm is a family-owned farm that is more than a hobby - it's a lifestyle.
In 2015, they began planting lavender plants. In their first year, they had just under 4,000 plants. Now, they have over 14,000 plants spread over 20 beautiful acres on gently rolling hillside in Imlay City, MI. They grow their plants without pesticides or other chemicals. Lavender is naturally drought- and pest-resistant, however, they must weed and nurture their plants by hand to ensure their health and productivity.
Trish will discuss her background and the making of the farm, the history and uses of lavender, and the care and maintenance of lavender including pruning, harvesting, processing and a little about distilling into essential oil. There will be time for Q & A and sampling of the farm's own lavender honey!
Trish will be selling homemade lavender products between the presentation and the business meeting, as well for a short time after the business meeting.
