Guest Speaker "Using Goats to Eliminate Invasives"

April 16th, 7:00 PM              “Using Goats to Eliminate Invasives”

Amy McIntire of City Girls Farm

City Girls was started in 2011 making hand crafted soap and lotion using milk sourced from their small herd of dairy goats.   By 2015 the herd had expanded to 10 goats, 6 of them being male.

Determined to use the "whole goat", City Girls decided to move into conservation grazing.  This is the practice of using livestock (sheep and goats) to rotationally graze on invasive plants that are threatening and prohibiting native plants from thriving.

Located at Goldner Walsh Nursery, in the Historic District of Pontiac, City Girls Farm uses their team of dairy goats to tackle invasive species in Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw counties and beyond. City Girls Farm can graze on private property, public lands and municipalities.
